Our Impact
The TBHF Scholar Award program was established in 1986. At the time, we were grateful to support a handful number of promising MBAs with $1,000 awards.
In 2022, we had the privilege of awarding $647,000 to 45 recipients. These recipients included not only MBA students, but also undergraduate students, United States veterans, and a high school student.

“I wouldn’t be where I am without resilience. If you have resilience, you can do anything. I’ve had some tough times and lows in this journey, and as an entrepreneur you have to decide not to give up, to keep going. I think about other entrepreneurs I admire and remind myself that had they given up when they faced a challenge, they might not have been able to create the impact they did.”

Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Hangio
“Being a part of this network is really inspiring. I’ve enjoyed being able to meet so many people and attend such a wide variety of events whether it be a virtual Titan Talk, the annual Induction ceremony, or a city-based get-together. I find it particularly interesting to learn about what is going on in other industries. We have so many members in real estate, oil and gas, supply chain, and so forth. Now that the world is becoming more unified with technology, I see more overlap in the business world. No matter what industry you are in, it is incredibly valuable to have a deep understanding of other industries, and we have so many experts in our TBHF network. Being around like-minded individuals who share that drive is incredible.”

CEO/Founder, Cruces Land Management LLC
“Being a part of this organization has given me the drive and encouragement to grow and expand my business. There are so many influential business leaders in this group that are willing to offer advice or help. Graham Weston is an example that comes to mind. His impact in real estate and redevelopment in San Antonio is a huge inspiration and I’ve had the chance to speak with and learn from him. It’s pushed me to learn more about and get involved with real estate investment and find creative ways to expand my business. TBHF is not only helping me reach my goals, but it is helping me get there quicker.”

2022 Annual Scholar & Veteran Award Luncheon
On November 3, 2022, the Texas Business Hall of Fame hosted its annual Scholar & Veteran Award Luncheon at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas. The luncheon featured the presentation of awards to this year’s 44 recipients, as well as a Q&A discussion featuring the 2022 Hall of Fame Inductees. This luncheon was made possible through the generous support of Deloitte.
The awardees were among over a hundred finalists nominated across our state, and were hand-selected by our Directors, for their entrepreneurial spirit, leadership and sense of duty to their state and community. We are incredibly proud of all these entrepreneurs have accomplished so far in their careers and can’t wait to see what they do next.

2022 Programming
The Texas Business Hall of Fame worked tirelessly to create opportunities for engagement, learning, and networking. With the help of our network we were able to provide a series of high-quality in-person and virtual events throughout the year, featuring some of Texas’ greatest business icons, offering personalized advice and anecdotes to our members.
We saw great turn out and engagement from our alumni on these calls. These events would not have been possible without the generous help of our network, including the Alumni, Directors, and Legends who volunteered their time to help put on these sessions.
The Texas Business Hall of Fame continues to grow its programming outside of its flagship event—the Annual Induction Dinner. Thank you to the following sponsors for making this outreach possible:
Additionally, we hosted two alumni networking breakfasts in Dallas and alumni happy hour networking events in Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.
This year, our Alumni leadership and advisory board played an instrumental role in the creation of our new Onboarding Program. Current alumni will have the opportunity to be paired with a new incoming 2022 award recipient. This will provide both the established award recipients and new scholar award recipients the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships within our expanding network. This program provides immediate value to incoming members and allows established alumni members an opportunity to support our mission and instill TBHF’s values in the future business leaders of tomorrow.
In 2022, we also debuted the Executive Leadership Program, a new initiative designed to provide a space where alumni can form direct connections with Directors and Legends within our organization, as well as develop their local entrepreneurial network. This program will consist of three city-based discussion groups who meet on a regular basis throughout the year. Each group is led by a TBHF Legend and two Directors. Our hope is that this will become a permanent part of our programming, allowing a new cohort of alumni to be selected each cycle.
2022 Funding
Breakdown of Awards
In 2022, TBHF continued its commitment to diversifying its funding allocation. Our goal is to champion and recognize entrepreneurs at every stage of their career. Not only did we increase the overall number of prizes in the collegiate space by more than 22%, we also awarded four veteran entrepreneurs and a high school student.
Additionally, TBHF increased its annual High School Award and created an endowment to ensure it remains a permanent part of our funding portfolio.
87% College and University Awards
8.7% Veteran Awards
1.8% Pitch Competitions
1.8% High School Awards
Sources of Funding
TBHF continues to work towards further diversifications of our funding sources. While the majority of our funding comes from soft funding generated through our annual event, we now house two endowments and have 72.6% of our awards in the higher educations and veteran space funded through multi-year commitments from Legends, Directors and former scholar award recipients.
Together, our members (Legends, Directors, and Alumni) make up over 63% of our funding sources. With the introduction of the Junior Director program launched in 2021, we have created a program that allows Alumni to support the organization at a higher giving level and strengthened our leadership pipeline.
74.9% Multi-Year Commitments
15% Event Related
9.3% Endowed Funding

Allocation of Expenses
The vast majority of our funding is dedicated to our event and award programming. TBHF strives to provide ongoing connections, networking, and resources for its members. In addition to our Annual Induction Dinner, we host a variety of virtual and in-person events throughout the year that our members can attend. We are committed to ensuring that our Hall of Fame members, Directors and Scholar and Veteran Alumni find permanent value in our organization through learning, service and mentoring opportunities.
