Founder Spotlight: Veronica Ume-Ezeoke

From Future Texas Business Legend to Founder of CNTRD Juice

When Veronica Ume-Ezeoke was named a Future Texas Business Legend Award recipient in 2017, she was a student at St. Mary’s University, studying healthcare within the business school and charting a path she expected would keep her firmly in the hospital and healthcare sector. At the time, entrepreneurship—especially in the food and beverage space—was not part of the plan.

Nearly a decade later, everything changed.

After building a career in the hospital business and later stepping into the fast-paced world of a tech startup, Veronica made a bold decision in February 2025: she walked away from it all to pursue a long-held dream. Just months later, that leap of faith became reality when CNTRD Juice opened on September 19, 2025, in Dallas’ vibrant Victory Park neighborhood.

A Personal Journey to Purpose

Although Veronica was born in Korea and grew up surrounded by family members in the restaurant industry, she never imagined she would one day open a juice bar of her own. The inspiration came closer to home.

Her husband, Valerian, had been “juicing” long before it was mainstream. After his NFL career ended in 2016, he turned to fresh, organic juices to support his health. The results were transformative: reduced inflammation, a 100-pound weight loss, and a renewed ability to move comfortably for the first time in years.

Seeing that impact firsthand sparked a shared vision. Together, Veronica and Valerian wanted to give others the same opportunity to improve their health through thoughtfully crafted, functional nutrition.

With Valerian’s lived experience, Veronica’s healthcare background, and her natural curiosity about the food industry, the couple decided it was time to take a chance.

Breaking the Rules—and Loving It

From the start, CNTRD Juice has done things differently. According to Veronica, they “broke all the rules.” Instead of testing the concept online or starting small, they launched immediately with a brick-and-mortar location in an upscale neighborhood. There’s no open kitchen, no seating for laptops, and no website. Orders are picked up in person—by design.

This intentional simplicity allows the brand to focus on what matters most: the product and the people.

Inspired by the philosophy of “Unreasonable Hospitality,” Veronica believes that when you take exceptional care of your team, they will, in turn, take exceptional care of your customers.

Centered on Quality and Sustainability

CNTRD Juice offers a seasonally rotating menu featuring organic ingredients and no added sugar. Every juice and smoothie is crafted to be delicious, sustainable, and functional, with ingredients selected for both impact and taste.

Sustainability is not an afterthought—it’s core to the mission. The business partners with local farmers, composts with farming partners, uses glass bottles for juices, and operates an in-house recycling program. Veronica is focused on strengthening that local pipeline even further as the business grows.

A New Center of Dallas

Located near the American Airlines Center, Y’all Street, and the ever-expanding Katy Trail, CNTRD Juice sits in what Veronica sees as the new center of Dallas. In just over three months, the shop has already earned buzz, including a feature in D Magazine with the headline: “The Couple Serving ‘Better Than Erewhon’ Smoothies in Victory Park.”

While flattered by the attention, Veronica remains focused on what’s next.

Looking Ahead

As a first-time founder, Veronica is excited about future growth, deeper farmer partnerships, and continued collaboration within Dallas’ small business ecosystem. CNTRD Juice has already partnered with brands and creators including Tyler the Creator, Miracle Mama, and Bumble BFF—founded by Texas Business Hall of Fame Legend Whitney Wolfe Herd.

Veronica treats every piece of feedback as an opportunity to refine the brand and elevate the experience. Her goal is ambitious but grounded: to build a company Dallas will be proud to call its own, and to set a new gold standard for smoothies and juices—locally and beyond.

From Future Texas Business Legend to founder, Veronica Ume-Ezeoke’s journey is a testament to curiosity, courage, and the power of betting on yourself.
