Michael Gorton is a 15-time serial entrepreneur, bestselling author, and recognized pioneer of the telemedicine and internet industries. His companies have helped create new markets and tens of billions of dollars in enterprise value across internet, digital health, telecom, aerospace, energy, publishing, and education. He is best known as the founding CEO of Teladoc, which launched the nation’s first large-scale telemedicine system and helped ignite a global industry now approaching half a trillion dollars.
In addition to Teladoc, Gorton has founded and led transformative companies including Internet Global, Principal Solar, Recuro Health, Palo Duro Records, Back To Space, and multiple next-generation technology ventures. He is an EY Entrepreneur of the Year, a Texas Business Hall of Fame Director, and a World Economic Forum Tech Pioneer.
A prolific author of eleven books, his works include Digital Medical Home, Broken Handoff, Forefathers and Founding Fathers, Calamistunity, and the award-winning science-fiction series Tachyon Tunnel.
Today, Michael serves in fractional executive roles with high-growth companies in aerospace, neurotechnology, and behavioral-health AI. He holds degrees in Engineering, Physics, and Law, and is an avid mountaineer completing the high points in 43 of the 50 U.S. states.
