Dr. Laura Murillo has served as President and CEO of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce since 2007. She has led the chamber to record-breaking growth in membership and revenue, making it one of the most influential chambers in the nation. Under her leadership, the Chamber has received multiple national and regional accolades, including the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s National and Regional Chamber of the Year awards.
She is the Founding President and CEO of the Greater Founding Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation and established the Emerging Leaders Institute, which has graduated over 400+ professionals. Dr. Murillo also serves as the Founding Executive Producer and Host of the Chamber’s media platforms, reaching a cumulative audience of 3.3 million. She is also an International Best-Selling Author for her book, Lead in Life.
Dr. Murillo holds a B.A., Master’s, and Doctorate from the University of Houston, where she became the youngest Director in its history. She serves on the Corporate Board of Prosperity Bank and The Plaza Group and was selected for Harvard’s Women on Corporate Boards Executive Program. Her leadership has been recognized globally, including being named a “Top 30 Texas CEO” by Texas CEO Magazine and receiving the prestigious Ohtli Award from the Mexican government.
Dr. Murillo is a dedicated community leader, serving on the Federal Reserve’s Community Advisory Council and numerous corporate and nonprofit boards. A proud Houstonian, she was raised in the city’s East End and is a single mother of two accomplished daughters, graduates of Columbia University & Georgetown University.
