A native of McAllen, Texas, Ms. Ilgun is a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. She has over 35 years of experience in health care administration, development, fundraising and non-profit management. Ms. Ilgun was part of the initial leadership team that opened the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer & Hematology Clinic in 2001, in collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Ms. Ilgun served in a number of roles at the Vannie Cook Clinic and is currently the Executive Director of the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Cancer Foundation. Ms. Ilgun is a sustaining member of the Junior League of McAllen, a past-chairman of Mujeres Unidas/Women Together Foundation, Alumni of Leadership McAllen, a recipient of the Zonta International Shining Star Award for Business Professionals in Hidalgo County, a member of St. Anthony Padua Catholic Church and was recently elected to serve on the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation. Ms. Ilgun moved to San Antonio in 2020, but continues as Executive Director of the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Cancer Foundation in McAllen and has one daughter, Isabella Sophia Ilgun, who resides in New York City.
